About us
Andrea Petrin
I was born in 1979 and I’ve been involved in the world of denim since a very young age!
I started my career in Martelli Lavorazioni Tessili S.p.a., where, over the following 14 years, I held positions of increasing responsibility, as Head of the Marketing office first – supervising all the promotional activities for Italian and European clients – and then, in addition, as Head of the garment sampling department, collaborating on a daily basis with the Research & Development team to develop new collections, laundry techniques and trends. Later on, I was the Head of the full package section – contributing to the vertical process by managing and liaising with some Pakistani garment makers.
In 2014 I challenged myself in a new business career and became a consultant in Research&Development first at Crescent Bahuman LTD and, from 2017 to 2020, at Arvind. In 2020, with Crescent Bahuman LTD, I collaborated as a Consultant for technological innovation and product development and innovation, in addition to helping in the creation of a customer-dedicated collection and in defining promotional marketing strategies; then, in 2021, I started supporting the sales agents team.
What I offered to both companies included my support in developing new fabrics, in the logistic reorganization of the Research & Development department, in the management of suppliers, and in the implementation and experimentation of innovative eco-friendly technologies, also by drawing on the skills picked up at the ZDHC-certified course “Chemical Management”.
In light of the growing textile market demands, from April 2020 to 2021 I specialised in the use of digital customisation technologies, supporting the development and evolution of the MYR software.
I enjoy exploring new frontiers and experimenting, a drive leading me to collaborate with brands in strategic research and in developing garments and/or collections using digital tools.
Giovanni Petrin
Indigo is the color of the blood running through my veins.
In 1974 I joined LA-CH-IN – an Italian laundry specialized in treatments of denim garments – as Factory Director. This is where, by collaborating with the giants of fashion such as Fiorucci, Goldie, Replay, UFO, Americanino and United Colors of Benetton, I first fell for the indigo fabric, a match made in heaven.
I made the most of my “Golden ‘80s”, strengthening the professional partnership with the “godfather of denim” Adriano Goldschmied, crowned in 1986 with the acquisition by Martelli of the laundry where we were experimenting new production techniques. I was not worried about the stillness of the 90s: my team and I tested the brush robot by Tonello, developed the first finishing collection, set up a showroom, put together a Research & Development team and started travelling to Japan and the U.S. In 1994 I developed the first hand-made collection and I showed it to Adriano Goldschmied and to Renzo Rosso who made it part of their collections. After a long-lasting career in Martelli Lavorazioni Tessili S.p.a. where I got the collaboration with some Japanese laundries started and I visited Japan extensively, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and I started working at Crescent Bahuman LTD as Business Strategist and later at Arvind as Strategic Advisor for Product Innovation, Denim Finishing and Marketing Relationships. Continuing my collaboration with Crescent Bahuman LTD, in 2020 I became Consultant for technological innovation and product development and innovation, in addition to helping in the creation of a customer-dedicated collection and in defining promotional marketing strategies; then, in 2021, I started supporting the sales agents team.
In 2006 I co-wrote “I love finishing” and in 2019 I collaborated with Elleti Group for the setting up of the museum M.O.D.E.
Talking about us
“I have had the pleasure to work with Giovanni Petrin for decades especially during his time at Martelli. And I also had the good fortune to collaborate with Andrea. They are both as professional and smart people as one can meet in our industry. Both love denim, and Giovanni is part of the denim legacy and history that students should learn about if they want to know anything about the really exceptional people who made our industry. Andrea brings both passion and diligence to his work and that is needed now, more than ever. I am grateful to know both the father and son of this great team.”
Andrew Olah CEO of Olah Inc. and Founder of Kingpins and Transformers Foundation
“Giovanni and Andrea is for me true denim lovers who master the excellence of the product – creating innovative ideas and products by combining the future with the past. They always challenge the given, which has been inspiring for me to be a part of throughout the years. Working with these amazing guys has always been a pleasure from a professional point of view, but just as importantly also from a friendly and personal point of view.”
Kenneth Bennetzen Product and Production Manager ONLY Blue Denim
“My career would probably have taken a different turn if I had not met Giovanni in the Eighties. By making available his enthusiasm and all the resources of Lavanderia Martelli, it was as if he had opened the gates of paradise for me. For decades this has been one of the greatest inspirations in denim design. His passion, determination and flair for innovation and research have paved the way for a new approach to jeans. These qualities, combined with being a good friend, easy going and instinctively good at leading a team, have always been and still are his distinctive professional traits.”
Adriano Goldschmied President and Founder of House of Gold
“I met Giovanni in the early 90”s , it was a day at the DIESEL headquarters where i attended a meeting about new Denim wash developments . Giovanni was talking with the creative team about the latest improvements in stone washing and remember myself pending from his lips . Then the years passed making us to become close team mates . I was always thrilled to see new things from his people in Martelli . I will never forget his smooth way to explain everything and always trying to understand the needs of his customers . Andrea came a bit later and became the valuable product development manager following and improving more his fathers skills . I could talk about them for hours regarding projects and products we shared together but i think their fame is huge at the Denim Society .
concluding i wish to greet their wonderful new initiative to help the Blue Community to evolve much higher in the field of responsible transparent and sustainable denim production. The post Pandemic days need Denim to get in better shape , i am sure that Gio and Andrea will give their best of knowledge to make it happen.
My sincere admiration for both of them .”

Giovanni has blue hands…..more than all of us. Giovanni is an icon in our industry with a wealth of knowledge and experience that is second to none. Giovanni did everything before any of us did anything. Giovanni was the pioneer collector of vintage denim inspiration and creating mouth-watering denim collections. I am so grateful to both Giovanni and Andrea for always sharing their experience, knowledge, taste and passion for Blue Jeans. A true inspiration for myself and many other denim lovers.
